Why am I receiving emails from "@cvnl.org"?
Volunteer Marin is a program of Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership (Center).  Founding in 1965 as the Volunteer Bureau, the Center has been building the capacity of nonprofits and volunteers for over 40 years.
I forgot my username.  How do I retrieve that information?
Please email us at volunteermarin@cvnl.org with your name and email address.  A Volunteer Marin staff member should be in contact with you within 3-5 business days.  
I forgot my password.  How do I retrieve that information?
Click the "LOGIN" button on the top right of the home page.  Enter your username and click "Forgot password?".  An email with a temporary password will be sent to you.
Do I have to have an e-mail address to register?
Yes.  Our website uses your e-mail address to identify you and send you important information about any opportunities you sign up for.  If you do not have an e-mail account, you can get one free of charge from www.gmail.com, www.yahoo.com or www.hotmail.com.  Free internet access is also available from most public libraries.
I am a court-ordered volunteer.  How do I get started and find appropriate opportunities?  How do I get a letter verifying my hours?
You must register with Volunteer Marin to sign up for projects or express interest to get information on opportunities suitable for court-ordered hours.  The Flexible Volunteer Program is the only way that you can work off your hours and get them signed by Volunteer Marin.  To find out which Flex Projects are accepted for court appointed volunteers, please call the Flex Program Manager at (415)479-5710 and notify us of the number of hours you need to serve and your offense.  Please Note:  Volunteer Marin is not able to verify any hours for projects that are not managed by us.  If you have volunteered with the Flexible Volunteer Program, hours can only be signed by a designated Volunteer Marin Staff member, not our Project Leaders or Project Agency Partners.  Please contact us at (415)479-5710 to have your hours approved and signed.
I want to volunteer with a group of volunteers.  How do we get started and find appropriate opportunities?
After registering with Volunteer Marin, create and manage your Volunteer Team (See above to watch video on how to create a team).  To find opportunities appropriate for groups, search the Flexible Volunteer Program opportunities or on the Find an Opportunity Page go to the "Additional Filters" and click "Appropriate For Groups" to find projects with Volunteer Marin or our partner agencies.
I am a youth volunteer under the age of 14.  Can I register with Volunteer Marin?
Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to legally register with Volunteer Marin. Volunteers under 14 years of age may still volunteer but a parent/guardian will have to register to sign up or express interest in projects.  A parent/guardian may create a team to include children under 14 on their account.
I have been waitlisted for a project.  Now what?
If a space opens up, you will be notified via e-mail.  Open spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis so if you are still available and interested in the volunteer opportunity, make sure you login, return to the sign in page and claim one of the available spaces.  Please do not show up for the project if you are still waitlisted.  
I can no longer volunteer at a project I signed-up for.  What do I do?
If you have signed up for a project and can no longer attend, please login to your volunteer account and remove yourself from the opportunity.  This will open up your spot to one of the many volunteers waitlisted and ready to volunteer.
My logged volunteer hours are not accurate.  Why are my hours not showing up?
If you volunteered at a Flexible Volunteer Program project, please give our volunteer Project Leaders one-to-two weeks to verify attendance.  If you volunteered with one of our partner organizations, your hours will not be recorded in our system, so please contact that organization to verify your hours.

What is the Flexible Volunteer Program's Cancellation Policy? 

It is extremely improtant that volunteers notify us before the project, if they are unable to attend. We plan each project carefully according to the number of volunteers needed. If you can not make it, we would like to fill your spot with another volunteer to ensure there are enough people present. If you CANNOT make the project pleast let the Volunteer Marin staff know at least 24 hours in advance (72 hours if you are a group of 3 or more). If you violate our cancellation policy 3 times, you will be removed from our registration process.

How do I become a partner with Volunteer Marin, a program of the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership (Center)?

To learn more about partnership and register, please see the Become a Partner page.  Once you are registered, you will be granted access to your partner portal and will be able to post volunteer opportunites.  Please note:  Becoming a Partner and posting volunteer opportunities with Volunteer Marin is free.  However, many of our services for recruiting and program development are for Center members only.  To learn more about membership, please go to CVNL.org.

I have just become a Volunteer Marin partner.  How do I learn more about posting opportunities and managing volunteers on this site?

Please login to Volunteer Marin and go to your Organization Portal for any questions on: how to post opportunities, how volunteers "Express Interest" in or "Sign Up" for your opportunities, how to manage volunteer hours, and run reports on volunteer hours.  Answers to these questions will be located on your Portal.  You can also learn more about how to best support your volunteer program with VolunteerMarin.org through our ongoing trainings.
