Volunteer Marin hosts many events and Days of Service throughout the year. Detailed information and sign-ups for each event will be posted on our homepage and Opportunity Calendar in the months leading up to the event.

January

Heart of Marin Awards-Produced by Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership and presenting sponsor, the Heart of Marin Awards recognize outstanding Marin nonprofits and the committed individuals who serve them.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service-This annual event celebrates the life and values of Dr. King, who recognized the power of service to strengthen communities and achieve common goals. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service builds on that legacy by focusing on service projects in Marin grounded in his teachings of nonviolence and social justice. The aim is to make the holiday a day ON, where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to improve lives and bridge social barriers.

March

Spring Clean Marin-This three month event focuses on beautifying our Marin landscape and cleaning up our community. Encompassing two national Days of Service, Cesar Chavez Day and Earth Day, Spring Clean Marin's projects focus on litter abatement and environmental restoration.

May

Marin Human Race-The Marin Human Race is produced by the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership. It is a fundraising event for the benefit of any participating nonprofit agency or school in the Bay Area. Attended by over 3,000 people, this race is the largest collaborative fundraiser in the county.

September

Week of Caring-Each year, Week of Caring connects corporate volunteers from Bay Area businesses to hundreds of projects organized by local nonprofits. Week of Caring is a partnership between United Way of the Bay Area and The Volunteer Centers of the Bay Area. The program provides an easy and unique way for organizations to strengthen community involvement.

Marin Designers Showcase-Now in its fourth decade, the Marin Designers Showcase features Bay Area designers who, while honoring the character of the home, create spaces rich with original ideas and modern comforts. Proceeds benefit the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership's Volunteer Services.

Make a Difference Day-The most encompassing national day of helping others, Make a Difference Day is a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Join fellow members of the Marin community as we work to make a difference in our county.

December

Holiday Gifts of Love-Holiday Gifts of Love is the highly anticipated annual event that connects all members of the Marin community with local nonprofit organizations for volunteer opportunities and donations of items for the holidays. Join us and spread good will to those in need during the holiday season. Last year, more than 250 volunteers participated in the program to help improve the season through service for their neighbors in need.
